Overview

At the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, cross-country skier Penelope befriends Ezra, a volunteer dentist, after a disappointing competition finish. What ensues is a thoughtful, bittersweet not-quite romance that Variety quite rightly compared favorably to Lost in Translation.

Stars Alexi Pappas and Nick Kroll co-wrote the dramatic comedy with director Jeremy Teicher, who now has the distinction of making the first narrative feature ever shot on location in a real Olympic Athlete Village. Certainly the setting, snowy and disorienting, underscores the film’s themes of loneliness and camaraderie, fear and courage, upheaval and comfort, victory and defeat as well as its exploration of what it means to find one’s way in the world for a couple who are brought together—and kept apart—by life’s vicissitudes.
