During her last summer in Harlem before heading to college, 17-year-old poet Ayanna meets Isaiah—a charming music producer who has just moved to the city—and the two artistic souls are drawn together in a passionate romance. But as the highs of young love give way to jealousy, suspicion, and all-too-real consequences, Ayanna must confront the complexities of the adult world—whether she is ready or not.

Emotionally raw, intimate, and honest, this portrait of a young woman navigating the difficult choices life demands of us is at once timeless and bracingly contemporary. Simply luminous in the lead role is Zora Howard, who co-wrote the script with director Rashaad Ernesto Green. (Green is a rising talent whom the Denver Film Festival has been showcasing for some time; shorts he made as a New York University student screened at DFF31 and DFF32.)

Zora Howard will be in attendance

Producer: Rashaad Ernesto Green, Joy Ganes, Darren Dean | Editor: Justin Chan | Cinematographer: Laura Valladao | Screenwriter: Rashaad Ernesto Green, Zora Howard
