Dorien has everything a woman could ask for: a successful husband, two adorable children, and a booming veterinary practice. Suddenly, though, she’s being handed things no one would wish on an enemy: her mother has moved in, her spouse is distancing himself, and there’s a lump in her breast.

With chaos ensuing all around her, it dawns on Dorien that she—who has been such a pillar of domestic stability for others—has no one to lean on in turn. It’s an epiphany that, even in its bitterness, is freeing: Perhaps there’s still some time for her to make meaningful changes. Belgian co-writer/director Anke Blondé makes an impressive feature debut with this dramatic comedy—all the more affecting for being unsentimental—about finding oneself just when everything else seems lost.
