Italian food is prepared with care and passion and culinary imagery plays a prominent place in Italian films.
This four-session education program on Italian Cinema and Food, paired with Italian food and wine, offers participants much food for thought to chew on as they partake in the viewing and discussion of images from classic Italian cinema and a recent feature-length film.
Session #3 (9/15) – Secondo. Around the Italian Table: Filming and Eating Italian
Dig into the main course with compelling scenes of ethnicity, gender, and spirituality centered
around the Italian table in films such as Vittorio De Sica’s (1970) Il giardino dei Finzi
Contini/The Garden of the Finzi Contini), Federico Fellini’s (1964) Otto e Mezzo/8½, and Paolo Sorrentino’s (2013) La grande bellezza/The Great Beauty.
