It's the holiday season and family is on the mind. In the gay community we often to get to choose our own family, many of us finding solace in people like us who are just striving to be ourselves despite many aspects of the world telling us not to. Auntie Mame, based on the runaway best-seller was steeped in the secret gay culture of the 1950s and this acclaimed film did its best to keep that flavor intact and cast the wonderful Rosalind Russell to portray one of literature's greatest free spirits who is gayer than a Christmas cake with a chosen family that’s just as nutty. So bring your family, no matter where you found them, and celebrate the holidays with Mame and hers.
