From the chrysalis of a wacky road comedy emerges a butterfly of a family drama—wondrously fragile and strange—as three siblings return to the dusty village of their youth to reunite with a father they haven’t seen in decades.
Cemal, Kenan, and Suzi haven’t had much to do with each other as adults, but when they’re unexpectedly summoned to their hometown by the estranged patriarch of the clan, they reluctantly make the trip, knowing it will mean a confrontation with an ugly past they have all worked so hard to forget. Can it also be an opportunity to find humor, even beauty, in the present moment? While exploring themes of loss and reconciliation, Turkish writer/director Tolga Karaçelik reminds us that tears and laughter are inextricably linked. Watch those chickens.
