Through never-before-seen video footage, audio recordings, and other archival material, legendary opera singer Maria Callas tells her story in her own words—decades after her death.
Filmmaker Tom Volf spent four years conducting research for his transcendent portrait of the 20th-century superstar, gaining insight from dozens of friends and associates who saw her from both sides: Maria the genuine person and Callas the sometimes-controversial diva. While touching on her relationship with Aristotle Onassis and other leading lights of her era, including Marilyn Monroe and Liz Taylor, Volf also presents some of her most-famous arias in their shimmering entirety. To hear them is to travel back through time.
