Overview

Paris, 1993. Jacques is a semi-successful writer and single father in his thirties trying to maintain his sense of humor in spite of the turmoil he faces as his health rapidly fails due to AIDS. While on a trip to Brittany, he meets Arthur, a much younger aspiring filmmaker who’s in the midst of a sexual awakening and eager to escape his provincial life. Arthur instantly becomes smitten with the older man in French writer/director Christophe Honoré’s mature and deeply emotional reflection on love and loss, youth and aging.

Backed by an affecting score of period pop music and opera, this romantic drama about intergenerational cruising, courtship, casual sex, and the courage to love in the moment finds hope for the future in the agony of the past.
