It’s not always a man that elicits jealousy between two women, as director/co-writer Laura Bispuri (Sworn Virgin, DFF38) shows in her study of a familial rather than romantic love triangle set on the windswept Italian island of Sardinia.

When ten-year-old carrot-top Vittoria stumbles upon Angelica, she finds herself drawn to the charismatic young woman—in part for her free-spirited ways, in part because she looks more like the girl than does her own loving yet overprotective mother, Tina, with whom Vittoria’s increasingly dissatisfied despite her stable home life. Against Tina’s objections, the two begin spending more and more time together—and as their relationship intensifies, her maternal instincts and insecurities come to the forefront.

Director Laura Bispuri will be in attendance for all screenings.
