Aspiring singer Marina and printing press owner Orlando are deeply in love, with a future ahead of them. But when the older Orlando suddenly falls ill and dies, Marina finds herself surrounded by distrust and outright hatred for her identity as a trans woman. Facing discrimination from a family she should have been able to call her own, Marina battles for her right to mourn Orlando as she deserves.

Chilean director Sebastián Lelio (The Year Of The Tiger, Gloria) treats his delicate subject material with the utmost care, creating an intimate character drama with real insight. Teasing a magnetic performance from newcomer Daniela Vega, Lelio tells a powerful tale of grief, love, and dreams.

A Fantastic Woman is a timely film of emotional honesty, engaging thoughtfully with the issues facing one of society's least-understood demographics. Premiering in competition at the Berlin International Film Festival, it went on to win widespread love from critics and a spot on the Academy Awards’ foreign-language shortlist. Truly, it is a film for today’s audiences - brave, heartfelt, and current.
