SUPERNOVA is the most extensive forum in the world that celebrates creative advances in digital animation in an outdoor, major urban-core setting, presented by the Denver Theatre District and Denver Digerati. The festival is recognized as one of the most innovative platforms for visual arts in Denver, and a singular experience for residents and visitors to the city to encounter on an annual basis, taking place over one weekend each September. SUPERNOVA’s robust slate of programs, including a focal competition with cash awards, give an opportunity to dive deeply into what’s current within an ever expanding field of computer driven creativity and boundless imagination. With well over 120 shorts filling 13 hours of programming, SUPERNOVA is a feast for the senses and a fascinating, forward thinking experience that defines one of the most engaging fields of art today. SUPERNOVA is the only all-digital Animation Festival in the world presenting short-form works on outdoor LED screens, taking place annually right here in Downtown Denver each September. This year’s recently concluded festival brought the quality of programming and distribution of animation on the streets to rousing new levels, featuring aesthetically diverse animations from all over the world. Join us for an hour-long showcase of some of the most singular, playful and captivating shorts from the 2017 edition of the festival, representing the many facets of programming.

SUPERNOVA Digital Animation Festival 2017 AWARD WINNERS + WORKS BY COLORADO ARTISTS


Supernova is the only all-digital Animation Festival in the world presenting short-form works on outdoor LED screens, taking place annually right here in Downtown Denver each September. The Festival’s centerpiece is a competition section highlighting top entries that have been submitted for consideration by artists from across the globe. Selected works are chosen for their ground-breaking techniques, visionary approach in using digital tools, and diversity of content. The festival awards major cash-prizes to five artists, determined by a panel of international jurors who are celebrated worldwide for their pioneering work within the fields of new media, contemporary art, performance and digital motion graphics. Join us for an exclusive presentation of this year’s award winning entries, followed by works by four local artists that were chosen for Supernova programming in 2017, including two screened as part of the official competition. A Q&A will follow with the local artists and Festival Director Ivar Zeile.
