Misako (Ayame Misaki) is passionate about her job, writing and recording the audio descriptions that visually impaired moviegoers hear at screenings. Her work must pass muster with an advisory committee—including an older photographer, Nakamori (Masatoshi Nagase), who proves a harsh critic.
But as she gets to know him, she may come to see the world better from his point of view, failing only in the physical sense. And he, too, may find a way to come to terms with the loss of his eyesight. Touching on themes of acceptance, awareness and gratitude, this beautiful, closely observed and heartfelt drama from Japanese director Naomi Kawase considers the impact that vision, in every sense of the word, has on our lives.
