Overview

Bill Nye is a man on a mission: to stop the spread of anti-science sentiment across the world. As the CEO of The Planetary Society, an organization founded by his mentor Carl Sagan, the former star of the enduringly popular kids' show Bill Nye The Science Guy now spends his time preparing for the launch of a solar-propelled spacecraft into the cosmos and advocating for the importance of science, research and discovery in public life.

With exclusive access to their subject—in all his zest for wonder and whimsy—directors David Alvarado and Jason Sussberg offer an intimate behind-the-scenes portrait of Nye as he takes off his lab coat and takes on those who deny climate change, evolution and a science-based worldview (some of whom admittedly prove to be fascinating subjects in their own right). Commentary from Neil deGrasse Tyson and other esteemed colleagues adds colorful perspective on the man behind the myth (and the bowtie).
