Lauded for his successful screenplay adaptation of Stieg Larson's The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, writer Rasmus Heisterberg now sits in the director's chair. In his first feature film, he focuses on a group of Danish 20-somethings who teeter precariously between adolescence and adulthood.
The tipping point comes with the decision to sell the Copenhagen apartment they share, fracturing their close-knit fraternity.Simon, a brilliant medical student, desperately wants to escape the city. He and his best friend Knud sign up for a six-month study of infectious diseases in the Bolivian jungle. But Knud, attached to his on-again, off-again girlfriend Mia, vacillates between a yearning for adventure and a desire for stability. Simon, meanwhile, finds himself stuck between bearing witness to life-and-death surgeries and acting out in scenarios that include booze, drugs, sex with strangers and even a stolen goat. Will this be the summer his friends move on without him?
Set over the course of three months, In the Blood is a moody and moving coming-of-age story.
