Overview

In this wildly original fantasy about love and survival in 19th-century Estonia, peasant girl Liina longs for village boy Hans. Hans, however, is infatuated by a visiting German baroness who possesses all that he longs for. Winning his love, then, will prove complicated—especially in these dark, harsh surroundings, where spirits, werewolves, witches and the devil himself roam.

Realizing his vision in rich and vivid black-and-white cinematography, writer-director Rainer Sarnet has garnered comparisons to Jan Svankmajer and Guy Maddin with this now funny, now creepy, oddball homage to traditional fairy tales.

Producer: Katrin Kissa | Editor: Jaroslaw Kaminski | Cinematographer: Mart Taniel | Screenwriter: Rainer Sarnet
