With an introduction and brief musical performance by Tim Kasher, followed by the film and a post-show Q&A.
The debut feature film by Cursive and The Good Life frontman Tim Kasher, NO RESOLUTION explores the relationship of never-was musician, Cary (Layne Manzer), and his newly pregnant fiancé, Jean (Maura Kidwell from USA’s “Sirens”), as they struggle with concepts of family and settling down. New Year’s Eve becomes a fitting backdrop for the disparity of their combined future; Jean longs for a nice night staying in, but the temptations of a decadent evening are too much for Cary to avoid. The engaged couple reaches a boiling point of anger and resentment as their upstairs neighbors stoke the flames with a raging New Year’s party.
About Tim Kasher:
Tim Kasher is a musician and writer hailing from Omaha, Nebraska. He’s the frontman of indie rock bands Cursive and The Good Life, more recently releasing albums under his own name. One of the original members of the Saddle Creek collective, he’s been releasing albums for over ten years now. In 2007, Kasher moved to L.A. to pursue screenwriting. While there, he scored the film Archie’s Final Project, and gained an additional writing credit for the film Lovely, Still (Martin Landau, Ellen Burstyn).
Tim wrote and directed his first feature film, NO RESOLUTION, in the Winter of 2014 in Chicago, IL with notable theatre actors Maura Kidwell and Layne Manzer.
Kasher’s passion for filmmaking started at a young age and has been focused on drama with a touch of comedy, a la Mike Leigh and Mike Nichols. As a teenager, he turned to the guitar as a more immediate medium to start telling stories; that snowballed into a career that has kept me writing for over 20 years now. With this first film, Kasher has incorporated his songwriting into the score and released the music as his third solo album.
