Vigo died before he turned thirty, yet still made these two lovely and influential features. He was the son of an anarchist, and in Zero for Conduct, shows his own anarchic spirit as a group of lively (to say the least) boys take over their boarding school. In l’Atalante, the captain of a river barge (Jean Dasté) marries a young woman (Dita Parlo) and both need time to adjust. Also with the extraordinary Michel Simon.
